Reviews

Arizona Daily Wildcat by Brandon Specktor
It’s this dual sentimental and macabre nature of the music that separates the Creeps from other bands that emerged around a specific theme. Below every mention of flesh-eating monsters and clandestine assassins is some genuine, universal emotion.

Lyrics

Boneyard Scene
Here lies Henry Paup he was 17. A bullet to the head while fleeing the scene. His mother’s such a mess. And his best friend won’t confess to the role in the crime. Roll in the crime. Shake your knotty bones. Lil’ Annie Dahl she was 44. Side of her chest was really sore. Never smoked a day. Just the price you gotta pay. For living in LA. Living in LA. Old man Cheater Coon he was 91. Crooked as a branch and as mean as they come. Lived by the sword. Now he’s passed with loving friends and the grace of the lord.

Monster (Massive Return)
One day, you’ll be walking through the city. All smiles, forced by surgery.  With your chin flaps up, and your prosthetic mind. Jigsawed from cadavers. Just like Frankenstein. Where’s my 45? You look better dead than alive. Cuz you’re a monster, and you don’t even know. Everyone around in the mainstream. Guide their lives, think you’re royalty. All rebellious thought. Your deviant thrills. Kept in suppression by little symmetrical pills. In the cover of night when the proles are at work. Hiding their spite. Being your clerk. You got money to create. Wasted on a bad face. You can’t feel the real thing.  Is that why you wear blue jeans?

Dark Cells
Within dark cells in isolation. Icy baths where penance dwells. The iron gag is on. Severing the tongue. And you are cleansed. Black hoods make the rounds at midnight. Voices dark so thoroughly mad.  Sometimes within ourselves. In and out of hell. And we are cleansed. Tampering, with the mystery. Of the brain is worse. Than torture of the body. Every arm and broken vein. Rigid, strict and in control. The joker holds on the only key. Grinning every time you plea. Look that devil in the teeth. And tell him all you’ve known and seen. Within dark cells.

Cannibals in Love
You and me alone. With a hunger and a craving. Nothing here to eat, one of us must save. Unusual it’s true, but stranger than the normal mind? I offer it to you, so one of us may thrive. What good’s an eye if I can’t see your flaws. Take it if you with, I will always be in awe. What good’s a leg, if I plan to never leave here. Carry me away and I promise to believe in here. Every day a piece of me, disappears. And when my heart is gone, my breath withdrawn, will you drink my tears. Surrounded by a tide, teeming with danger. The sun will always burn and love will always hurt. Cannibals in love.

These Horror Twins
These horror twins. Born out of flux. Here they stand, scarred but resilient. Oh, let them laugh. Every time we fall. No one ever said, glory’s easy. Dead inside and I’m searching for a modern feeling. All these times, I worried. Then once in a life, a road that no one’s followed. Take a chance, it’s our time. Misunderstood only by the dense. Hand in hand, outside looking in. Don’t stop the car. It’s time to make a vow. And our sins, only fed this town. Weep as you laugh, feeling is a flaw. Morons who preach, hearts that never thaw. Oh, let them snide. Who taught them language? We won’t back down, this is our stage now.

Night Vision Eye
Got a nightvision eye. I can see you where you lie. Dreaming in your bed. The dirty pictures in your head. And you think that you’re alone. Privacy at home. No one ever hides. From the night vision eye. Got an ultraviolet spine. And an infra ready mind. Swimming in the sheets. Of betrayal and deceit. You’re secrets are exposed. By those in the know. All around are spies. With night vision eyes. Got a thermal looking glass. Everyone is green. Dancing in the dark. As if they are unseen. You talk as if you’re free. To do just as you please. Until you try to fight. The night vision eye.

Lucky Stiff
One leg up on the railway. Momma couldn’t feed us right anyway. So I’m hitting the road with some good friends. Any way the wind blows. Maybe to Chicago. I don’t wanna rob. I just want a good job. I didn’t mean to kill him. And what it is. The railroad cops are cold and callous. Bloody dripping face, even on the youngest. But don’t forget, we outnumber. We didn’t ask for nothing and we got thrown away. We can’t even steal a fitting limb. It’s kid vs train. And what it is. One less leg to kick the bucket. One lucky stiff, never learn to dance. One less bootlace. To tie me down. One more reason, I’m running away. If I ever get the chance. And what it is. Hey, I’m just another. In a series of unlucky events.

Dead to me
You’re so ripe with human decay. You’re skin is pale like paper mache. You wear a tag with your C.O.D. on your bloated toe. Mama, mama, mama don’t you get it. Mama, mama, mama you’re dead to me. Spreading your stench all over town. Once you get it in you can never wash it out. You’re a ghost. You wanna clue? well, we can see through your skin. Long ago, before the Fall. Honey, I would pine. I should’ve known then. But I was blind, Now I’ve got the line. Honey it’s too late. Forever is a mighty long time. You’re heart has stopped you can’t bat an eye. And all this love you still think it’s alive. You hover, like a buzzard, over the bones.

The Look So Good In Black
Microwaves, mind control, a plot to kill the Pope. I’m a surrogate for the KGB and the world is my scope. I’m searching for a one-armed man, A subversive with a twist. He’s got the plans for a new death ray. A kugo that can’t miss. We look so good in black. HQ sent the communiqué, got it faxed right to my mind. Took too much of that truth serum, now my ID is maligned. I’m cracking codes and ciphers. Trying to make the links. Reading all your email, while trying to be discrete. We look so good in black. I’m packing heat, feeling neat, looking like a God. Water boards, abdomenal slaps, just waiting for the nod. I’ll put you in a tiny box with an insenct on your back. If any one pries, I’ll feign surprise and tell them, under your command.

Arsenal of Charm
Hang your head in the shadow. Turn your eye to the black. I wish I could give you. All the beauty you think you lack. Keep all this a secret. Don’t you reveal it. When the darkness takes you over. And your pillow is a dying noun. You can scream all you want to. There are no ears in this town. Keep all this a secret. Don’t you reveal it. Friday night and it seems. Those on the air have got it made. Outside the frame there are demons. No one is spared and no one is ever blamed. Keep all this a secret. Don’t you reveal it.

Skull City Mine
She was once young and fair. Now weathered by the time. Her lover was entombed in the skull city mine. He was only a lad. When his mother read him the line. You’re daddy’s not coming back. From the skull city mine. Come on Rosie Lynn. Bring the boys and mosey in. It’s a journey through time. A chance to unwind. And to leave your worries behind. The skull city mine. It’s not hard to fault. The greed that wilts the rose. Listen close you’ll hear.  The hollers of wandering ghosts. Whispers in the wind. The hanging tree still stands. Warning all who dream. Of taking from the land. Come on young and old. Come on in you’ll find. Where the stories are the treasures in the skull city mine.
