On the eve of the Midnight Blood release

I was thinking back to when we recorded Midnight Blood and the whole process. Rikki, Frankie and I in Adam Fuller’s studio with half the songs half-written with no lyrics and Rikki and Frankie jumping in and busting them out fearlessly without ever hearing many of them beforehand, all in the space of a weekend in a town where Sons of Anarchy was filmed (trivia).

Then coming back and laying down some vox and guitars with Jim at Waterworks and Dusty laying down some Timbales from a distance and then me taking everything and trying to put it all together. In the process, having Scott do an acoustic mode analysis of the Dead Animal Room and treating it (tuck and roll amps make great DIY bass traps btw, hah), and then spending a bunch of cash on gear, preamps, software and then having the whole thing mastered by Roger up at SAE and then having Steph come in and learn all this stuff on the drums in a few weeks, all while holding down our day jobs…. whew!!

…and I wonder was it all worth it? And I can say without a doubt, YES, fuck yah it was worth it!!! It’s not like there’s a choice, right? After all, whether it’s the “Midnight” or whatever you wanna call it, it’s IN the blood, and I think any musician would tell you the same thing.

SO MY SINCERE THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO WAS A PART OF THIS HERE ALBUM WE’RE MIGHTY PROUD OF AND ROCK ON MATES!!
